If I could turn back time...

oh ya... I would if I could ! Be a kid again, with no worries, no "To Do Lists", no huge responsibilities...ah! Life is fun for kids :D
Crazy month, crazy week... I have been making cakes, trying to keep Waaiz happy and busy during the summer days, planning weekend activities for us,daily chores along with Maani's share of "Honey to do List" because of his crazy work schedule.Every couple of weeks, I get a taste of being a single mother...and this is how it has been since past few weeks... he has been working all day and then after dinner he has to work too sometimes late into the wee hours of the night...and then back in the office again the next morning!
So, I have been trying to make sure I do EVERYTHING around the house AND keep Waaiz happy! He is such a good kid, he rarely gets bored. But sure misses his daddy whenever he has been working late for a few days! Oh well, at least he has a job, right!A very hectic, stressful and demanding job! I feel for him too.Poor guy,him staying up till 4 in the mornings fixing issues- after working all day...
Ok, I better leave this note here, I have to get Waaiz ready for bed and then work on a cake that has to be ready on Friday.my life...Interesting! If only I could be a kid again!!!

Maa daa laadla :D

yes,Maa daa laadla is definitely spoiled :D and no this post is not about Waaiz...
(Note: Maa daa = mother's ; Laadla = spoiled (well, not literally but pretty close to what it means -lol ) and here he is!
He is our spotlight backyard baby these days. This cute little baby bird who decided to spend his early childhood days in our backyard trees and wants to make memories by picking fresh, ripe and juicy grapes from my grapevine!
We are having the time of our life, watching him grow and change every week.Such a great learning opportunity for Waaiz.
The above picture was taken about 2 weeks ago when I first spotted him.Momma bird kept bringing yummy food to him and he would sit on this branch with his mouth wide open for yummy bugs. Here, see for yourself.
Then he started to become a little more friendlier and kept checking us out by hopping by our living room window and hanging out in our patio. Here he is having a conversation with Waaiz :)
He has finally figured out that we are his human family and don't want anything from him other than a few cool pictures :D So, every morning, he sits on my window and chirps in his tiny voice and makes mama get out of bed and put some birdy food out in the backyard. Then the chirping starts back again around noon, and then in the evening...he's such a baby!
(reminds me of the poem we used to sing when we were kids,"bulbul ka baccha ,khata tha khicri, peeta thaa paani, gaata thaa ganay, mairay serhanay" haha, for translations, send me an email,I promise it is nothing you wouldn't like :D)
One day I caught him red handed, sneaking up on my grapevine having a feast on our grapes.
...and of course I being a tough loving momma, gave him a time out. Here he is looking all sad and ashamed at being disobedient!
Ever since this little guy came into our backyard,we have been sensing a tense environment of protective and competitive bird behaviour.Every time I feed the birds in my backyard(the way I have always done),things take an interesting twist! here...see for yourself.
get it? yes, Mama bird and Papa bird beat the heck out of all the old attendees of our backyard diner/cafe/buffet whatever you call it!And trust me,their magic is real...the bird traffic is coming to a minimum in our backyard ever since papa bird and mama bird flexed their muscles!
The day after the scary stormy weather,Waaiz and I went to the backyard to check on our little buddy and to our surprise, he was still there :D yayyyy God is amazing! He protected this tiny little creature in strong winds and crazy rains.
But I found a nest flipped upside down on the grass :( I tried to see if there were any baby birds by the nest and found two little eggs.So sad :( But the good part was that Waaiz got a pretty close look at the construction of a bird's nest and their eggs :D You learn something new everyday!
We picked them up and set 'em up in our patio, hoping some bird would like to adopt the pair :D
The next morning, our smarty baby bird was trying to check it out! or was he stealing little twigs from the nest to make one of his own!Whatever he was doing,I caught him from my window and took these pictures.

yes, I know mommy LOVES taking pictures just like a paparazzi!

Finally I leave you with this fun picture...spot the real birdy!
yayyy you have the correct answer :D for that you will get ....Juicy yummy grapes.Fresh from our grapevine.Enjoy!

You're EVERYWHERE!!!

Haha, I promise I was about to head to my room and crash in my bed,but I just went into the craft room to turn off the computer and this is what I saw

Yup! His toys are found in random corners of the house ,car seats and even dinner table at the restaurants we visit.Usually they are fighting some sort of mysterious battle ,saving the universe.
here are some pictures I took on random days at various locations.
These two for instance, were taken when I took him to IHOP and of course he took Stockade with him to see the world of pancakes :D

And then one fine day these two Lego guys decided they should test their strengths.

And of course there are his master pieces! awww gotta love having a boy in the house :D

Brothers :D

So, this post was supposed to be up on June 11Th, but due to the love hate relationship between me and the scanners,I wasn't able to declare it a mission accomplished. Now with hubby's graciousness,I was able to find the pictures scanned and transferred on my laptop when i woke up this morning :D gotta love him for being a nerd!
June 11Th is my brother's birthday... and last few days, I kept thinking about our childhood together. An ocean of memories we have! He and I spent more time together than with the rest of our herd ( we are a gang of 3 brothers and 1 me,yup I am the princess sister :).When I was about 6 years old and he was 12,we had to leave our older brothers and our country and live in a different country with our parents due to daddy's job. Those probably were the most memorable years for both of us together. We had the same friends, we used to watch same cartoons,I remember we used to watch Smurfs ,Thundercats and Grendizer ,he would always pretended to be Lion-O
We used to find "red eyes" in the dark and pretend that they were aliens.
And how can we ever forget our pet chickens...not one not two but 13 of them. haha! And we would get into so much trouble because our chickens would run around in our moms vegetable garden, and sometimes they'd run away and he and I would go looking for them around the neighbourhood.
We spent many many bright and beautiful days in the native fields picking water melons, grapes, olives, figs and pomegranates from their trees and vines.
I remember we'd pick the perfect watermelon, bring it to the road, smash it open and eat it with our friends...what fun days!
There used to be a Korean contract company named, Corinthia in that area..God knows what they were building but I remember, one day he and I both climbed up the very tall crane and went inside the little control cabin and saw how tiny our house looked from up above :D
I still remember our school days,we used to walk to our school holding hands and would come back home holding hands. And the summers were awesome!!! specially when our mom would take afternoon naps, she'd put him and me on either side of her bed and we knew that a single squeak from the bed will wake her up and that will not be pleasant - lol...however that didn't stop us...we'd sneak out of the room as soon as mom would fall asleep and would get busy in our little adventures around the house.
He has always been the geek among us...he'd try to make circuits using the tutorials from his science magazine,I used to sit there and bother him all afternoon till he'd get tired of me messing with his little LEDs,adapters, resistors, soldering iron and transistors.I remember we made a circuit for a doorbell or something! oh what fun!
And how can I forget our book binding adventures...he and I LOVED binding our books.Making sticky glue with flour and water, messing up moms kitchen sink and utensils. And we always got punished together for breaking mama's crochet hooks for our book binding projects. lol
I can easily say that he was the most annoying brother one can have ,probably because he and I are totally opposite in personalities,he has never been fond of talking,I on the other hand have a chitty chatty self :D that always started clashes between us.We fought, told on each other, got each other into troubles...but in the end, were always together.
He went to KSU for his MS and of course did as best as he always did, then he moved to Dallas to live with us.He and I were together again!this time around I was a mommy and a housewife! I am so glad he spent that year with us,it was a changing phase for me,and him being here was some what therapeutic. We used to find outlet stores across Dallas and would drive out there in the summer afternoons and would have picnics at the lake on the weekends.oh and our road trips were so much fun too.
Here, we are at the River Walk in San Antonio with about 8 month old Waaiz. This was our trip when I lost his precious video camera :(

He adores Waaiz! He earned his infant handling degree here by taking care of Waaiz in his first year.It was amazing to see him buckle little Waaiz in the car seat and then take him to his friend's house and be back just in time for Waaiz's diaper change- lol
I HATED him for being a book worm...he ALWAYS scored A+ and since I was younger than him, everyone would tell me to be like him...haha.He is a serious nut case! no wonder he is almost done with his PhD...ah...my bookworm brother will be PhD Doctor :D oh how much I love him for that now! Here he is with me,this is when he graduated from his University.what a proud day!

That's me and him,I think that was the day our school announced the annual results! of course, he scored an A+ .
ah we were cute :D

Now, he is all grown up, a family man,
father of a beautiful little girl
.Yet still a geek and a book worm.I think now he has his wife to hate him for being a book worm :D all I can tell him that I am not jealous of him anymore :) and that we are all VERY proud of him for doing what he is doing and wish him all the best with his PhD.And of course a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY and a HAPPY FATHER'S DAY too !

...so far so good!

yup! so far so good.2 down one more to go.
I should be done with this cake in a few hours.the third tier's top is frosted and now I will go work on the sides,I just had to sit down for a few minutes to take a break from standing on the kitchen floor for about 3 hours now :(
After icing and smoothing the tiers,I have to put the support pillars in the bottom two tiers and then they will be stacked and then i have to adhere the dragee's on all three tiers and wrap the burgundy/gold ribbon at the bottom of each tier.By that time...it will probably be dinner time and I will be too tired to post pictures of the finished cake...so,see y'all tomorrow with pictures of the beautiful cake!till then ...here is what they look like right now.
So here they are as of now...Waiting in the chiller :D
They look so good,Thanks God, and thanks so much to Ms Sharon! Right now...I feel very happy and relaxed.once they get firm,I will be stacking them and then comes the fun part of decorating them :D can't wait!

and here is the 10" round which will be the middle tier.

UPDATE: Here is the finished cake :D I LOVED the way it turned out.Very happy with it.Tell me how you like it!
