Rain and Thunder.

So not much going on lately...just those lazy days of summer.
But I must say that I am VERY thankful for the rains we have been getting lately! sure is helping the lake levels and my gardens. But it definitely adds to my monthly mowing routine, since all that rain is making the grass grow like crazy! these are the times when I wish that the builder had put in Spinach instead of Bermuda :) I could freeze it instead of dumping it in landfill.
Here are some pictures of the clouds that have been hanging out with us lately.

They are coming :)

rotation...rotation... rotation!

It's getting dark

Oh and I got this link from a friend.Pretty impressive!Check it out and don't forget to turn your speakers on :)

a day at the mills.

On Friday I asked Waaiz what he wanted to do over the weekend and he said, he wanted to go to the Mills in Grapevine and play Golf. OK! well, then Mills it is.
When we walked in,we saw this...and no she didn't have any halo over her head :) her shoes were very pretty though !
....and Mr W got to play Golf all he wanted.
Big K helped him too...perfect daddy n me time :)
and of course they stopped on their tracks to check out this vette.
he found a photo friendly baby Rhino.
and a happy frog.
and a suspicious parrot.
he learnt to speak Alligator language :) raaarrrrr ....something like that.
We walked for hours and of course when we got home...everyone was tired!but it was all worth it when you see a happy face like this one! don't you agree.

Love at first sight!

I got a chance to do my favorite thing in the world :) WINDOW SHOPPING FOR SHOES!!!
Yup, this is right...ONLY window shopping for now...I am trying to reach a goal before I go and buy me a pretty pair of sandals.Pretty strong for motivation,huh..well, it works for me.haha
As I was walking through the rows and rows of pretty sandals,I saw these and I just had to try them...they were cute and looked pretty when I tried them on.
Here is a better shot.I didn't buy these because I didn't knew when I'd wear them - lol

ah.... I am so hopeless!

Best of both worlds.

So he has been observing me reading labels and nutrition information on pretty much ANYTHING we eat.And he hears his daddy talk the computer lingo all the he know all about Calories,Carbs,Saturated Fats, gigabites, mega bites, hard drives,USBs etc etc.
So he reads the label and with an informative tone in his voice he tells me :
"Mama, this box says, it has 1 gigabyte of Fat.I think that's not too much, you should try it!"

Are you going to finish STRONG?

One thing I get from a lot of people is," How come you are ALWAYS happy?" and "Life's not a joke, you can't handle it this way" or "you can't have a happy go lucky nature ALL the time" and perhaps I am considered to have a " Non serious attitude" too :)
My point, TTWP! This Too Will Pass.Whatever it is.... If I stay positive and don't complain or whine ... I KNOW I will finish strong whether I win or loose! Are you going to finish strong?
I guess I stay happy and positive in every situation, because I know I am VERY blessed.God has blessed me with everything we need to live our everyday life.I can't complain. He has been extra kind to me...I cannot ask Him for more.
So here is to all my friends who are feeling a little sad today,or to those who are in situations that make them wonder,"Why Me?" Cheer up look around you,see for yourself your problems are not bigger than your will power!

Topsy Turvy!

Admit it or not...all of us LOVE thrifty finds.I know I do!I love antiques and most of all I love yard sale finds.
I fell in love with this Topsy Turvy beauty the moment I saw it,love the colors, love the size, the whimsical patterns, love the of all, this brand new in packaging set was only $3.C'mon, you wouldn't have said No to this one either :)

You can get an idea of the size of this Salt n Pepper set with the Sharpie next to them :) They are so tiny and oh so cute.

Mama gets a cone???

This morning Waaiz was watching Clifford The big red dog,and the episode was "Cleo Gets A Cone".Where Cleo had an itch that she couldn't stop scratching so she had to wear a cone.
A little later Waaiz saw me scratching my forehead a few times and he comes up to me and says, "mama, you are gonna have to get a cone".lol
This kid was sent to make my days brighter.

A Market in this World :)

Yes, I LOVE World Market. So they sent me a coupon via their emails for a Free Tote.I had to run to the store and claim it, since Free is my middle name :D
It turned out to be a fun afternoon at this World of wonderful and beautiful treasures, cause my wonderful hubby decided he wanted to join us in this adventure! So off we went exploring the World of wonderful things. As a reward of his sweetness,he also got a Free Tote :)
I found an orange hat that was too loose for my head, otherwise I would have TOTALLY brought it home.
I just had to buy me one of these bamboo curtains. The one I bought from World Market a few years ago was falling apart and I needed a new Maani found one for under $15 ,isn't he da bomb :D
here I am showing off my curtain and my hat.
Of course,Waaiz had to try a hat too.Cute!
These vases were soooooo pretty,I wanted to get one in every color.

OK, If you know the kind of neat freak I am,you won't be surprised to see this picture...I LOVE organizing gear :)
...and of course, some of my friends call me "Candle Queen" and that I sure am!
This room divider was just absolutely beautiful!
And these tiny cookware items reminded me of on of my cookware sets from my childhood.I had one just like this one.I still use one of the little bowl as a spoon rest in my kitchen :)

Thursday happiness.

This morning, I sent these to Maani's office with him.He told me that EVERYONE in his office loved them :D
These are cake balls covered with Chocolate Ganach.
And these are my very yummy cucumber/egg sandwiches.SUPER tasty and perfect for a hot day.
Would you like to try them? Here is how to make them.
Cake Balls:
Just as the name says, they are balls made with cake. You bake the cake, any flavor/recipe you like, cut it into chunks. Then put them into a big bowl and mash them with a big fork. Some bakers like to mix a little bit of butter cream frosting in their cake balls,You can certainly do that.
Shape the mashed cake crumbs into a ball and let them chill for a few hours.
Take your favorite chocolate (Candy melts, chocolate chips etc) in a glass bowl, microwave at cook power 5 for a few seconds ( depending on the quantity of chocolate).Stir.
You can either dip your cake balls in the chocolate one by one Or set the cake balls on a wire rack, put a jelly roll pan underneath the rack and pour the chocolate on the balls.
When the chocolate is set, decorate the balls .
Summer Egg/Cucumber Sandwiches:
3 Hard Boiled Eggs
1/4 cup or less shredded Cabbage
1/4 cup chopped cucumber
1 Tablespoon Vlasic sweet Relish
1 Tablespoon Vlasic Dill
3- 4 Tablespoons Low Fat Light Mayonnaise
1 Teaspoon Light Mustard
Salt and black pepper -to taste.
Bread slices. White OR Whole Grain
Let the eggs cool after you boil them.Peel and wash.Cut the eggs into small pieces,I use the egg/strawberry slicer.Set aside.Take all the other ingredients and dump them in a wide bowl and mix. After all the ingredients are coated with mustard and Mayonnaise, fold in the boiled eggs. You can use this mixture right after making it.OR you can refrigerate it and let the flavors blend in for about and hour or so.
When ready to serve, spread the egg mixture on the bread slice and make a sandwich.
Enjoy! send me your pictures when you try this recipe and tell me how you like it.I'd love to hear from you.
Happy Thursday :)
