Cuppies anyone!!!

Yesterday,I was going to attend a fabulous Couponing class offered by my friend Kareah, whose birthday was last week,so i thought I'd take some cupcakes to her as a birthday treat :)
I tried two new recipes on these cupcakes...Fresh Strawberry Cupcakes and Banana Cupcakes.
Here is the recipe I used for Banana Cupcakes.
Ingredients:
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter softened
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
2 ripe bananas mashed
3/4 cup sour cream
Preheat oven 350°F. In large bowl, cream butter and sugar with electric mixer until light and fluffy. In medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside. Add eggs, vanilla and banana; mix well. Add flour mixture alternately with sour cream; blend thoroughly but do not over mix. Pour into prepared pans. Bake 20-25 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes in pan on rack.
Makes 18 cupcakes.
I made half a batch.And while I was working Waaiz helped me and out of nowhere he comes up with this crazy idea of adding pineapple to the banana cupcakes...so I had to add 2 Tbsp of fresh Pineapple puree in the batter and mix it.(NOT A GOOD IDEA) haha..Sorry Kareah..the cuppies were too moist! but at least W got his wish :)
And for the Strawberry Cupcakes,I used this recipe.
Ingredients:

4oz butter
1 cup Sugar
1 egg
2 egg whites
1/4 milk
1/4 cup fresh Strawberry Puree'
1 tsp vanilla

Just in case you are wondering about the frosting :) here is the recipe.
Cream Cheese Frosting:
1/2 cup butter
8 oz Cream Cheese softened
4 cup powder sugar
1 Tbsp Milk
1/2 Tbsp Vanilla
1/4 cup White Chocolate melted.
Cream Butter and Cream Cheese together.add Milk and vanilla.Gradually add powder sugar.beat until combined.
Melt some white chocolate in the microwave and add that to your frosting.YUM O!!!
Here they are...see what I was talking about ...banana cupcakes being too moist..they sat in the middle :(
Now,let me warn you...NEVER sit your cupcakes to chill right next to a cupcake loving boy,you are definitely gonna end up with a few less cupcakes than you baked :)

I was so excited to use my new toy :) my Daisy Cutter set that I got this past weekend on a trip to Cake Craft Shoppe in Sugarland.I love it...it makes such pretty daisies.

Weekend Frenzy :)

You all remember the flowers I was making?Well, I get to finish all 3 cakes on time this last Friday.Just in time for our road trip to Houston,TX.We went to visit our family and a very special friend,what better gift to bring than a cake!!!
I had so much fun working on these cakes,there were some new things I got to try( yeah right, make that family into my lab rats :D)
I tried,Paula Deen's 1-2-3-4 cake recipe.At first I didn't like it...but I loved the way it held up and the texture was perfect for tiered and carved cakes! I think that recipe is a keeper.
Then at the last minute I was one pan short of batter,so I asked Waaiz what cake he'd love to it and he said,Strawberry cake!well, I got online immediately to find a good Strawberry cake recipe and I found this one to be trustworthy :) LOVED IT!!! and thanks God I had fresh strawberries on hand.
I was so happy to have W working with me :) he loved attaching M&M's to the flowers and dusting the flowers with luster dust.He is such a good helper!

ALL DONE!!! he did a great job...and check out the tiny little crumbs he made with gumpaste,ofcourse...he gets distracted :)
Saturday morning we loaded up the cakes in our Jeep,packed some snacks for the trip and hopped in the truck for a nice 5 hours drive.
This is how he kept himself busy :) { see, no Nintendo DS needed =) }
and...big K snacked his heart out on chips,apples,nuts etc.haha!I just love my boys <3
This one was for my sweet sister in law - to celebrate her birthday that weekend and her anniversary that was the weekend before :)

This cake was my first attempt at making a gift box cake,I enjoyed making it.I used Sharon Zambito's instructions to make a gift box cake and the lid.
Here is the lid of the cake...it was made with gum paste.
oh ...remember the flowers from the previous blog post? I learnt them from Edna's tutorials
Then I took this cake to my husband's nephew's house...and found out that it was his daughter's birthday that same day! SCORE!!! :D
And I made this cake for my gorgeous friend Skye.She loves Sunflowers...

I was so glad I got to meet Skye and her wonderful family.Look at W! he sure made some new friends.
Skye helped me stay motivated and focussed when I was trying to loose weight,she got me addicted to running :) She is a runner mama! and got some serious guns.She is such a sweet and kind person.I am so blessed to know her.Here we are :)
She got me this gorgeous windchime ...see it matched perfectly with my craft room :) She knows I LOVE lavender,pinks and purples.
phew! I was so exhausted,but at the end of the day...seeing your friends and family enjoy and brag about the cakes I made- TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!
Now I am working on a few other cake projects,more flowers more cakes...FUN!!! I can't wait to share with you guys what I got in the mail a few days ago.

Sugar madness...


so I have been CrAzY busy working with fondant and gum paste...trying to learn,finish,try,make gum paste flowers...
The pink gum paste 5 petal flowers and roses are for my friend's wedding cake...3 different shades of pink and 3 different stages of a rose.I learnt how to make gum paste roses by watching Edna's awesome tutorial on you tube.She is amazing!!!
Day 1 of rose making...some roses and many many rose centers drying.
Tada!!! It took me a whole week to finish all these roses and tiny 5 petal flowers...
I think there are about 100 roses! yikes!!!
I also found a tutorial for Calla Lily on her youtube channel.
Then I made red roses for my sister in law's birthday cake.
While I was doing that...I thought about trying my hand at Tulips,so I made a few of those as well.
These red roses,tulips and callas are going to be decorated on the gift box cake I will be making on Friday :D Here is the lid and 4 side panels drying on Maani's pingpong table.
These will be assembled on a butter cream iced cake, I can't wait to see how it all looks together.Ms Sharon's DVD motivated me to try this design.I hope I can make her proud.
Then just when I thought I could wash all the nasty greasy shortening off my hands...Ms Sharon made these fabulous Ranunculus for a wedding cake and I was so tempted to try my hand at those.So here we go...
This was my inspiration for my flower...
and this is the one I made :)
I still had some left over gumpaste so I decided to put some flowers on the cake I will be making for my nephew...so here they are drying :)they still need some luster dust and some pretty dots for centers.
oh..then I decided to try making some Plumerias,here they are...I have to get some yellow petal dust to dust the lower half of the petals to bring them to life and make them look like real Frangipani flowers :)
And, I almost forgot to show you the bow I made! Thanks to SugarShack's Boxes and Bows DVD and Planet cake's bows for inspiration :)
This is my first ever gum paste bow and I am loving it!!!
I'm telling ya... it is addicting!
As if all this wasn't enough I also was working on another one of my friend's wedding projects... I still have to finish her bridal bouquet by the mid of next week.But I finished decorating her gorgeous veil.
pretty rhinestones and pearls adore this delicate fabric! oh so cute.
ahhh I better get some rest now...I have to bake 3 cakes tomorrow.They are going to be so pretty.
One is the gift box,second is a pretty spring/summer cake with that big lavender flower on it and the third one is going to be a sunflower!which reminds me...I have to work on the 50 million petals for the sunflower...ok not exactly 50 millions but about 55 petals.oh boy! I should get some sleep now.I will be back with pictures of the finished projects,till then tata!

You don't know what you got...

...until it is gone :)
I recently sold my Treadmill
and just yesterday I got rid of the swing set from the back yard!
Now don't get me wrong,I absolutely do NOT miss my treadmill AND I am very happy to see the swing set go to my neighbor's backyard where her beautiful kiddos will enjoy it :) yayy! plus look at all the space I have in the backyard now! yayyy more grass to mow.ugh.
I always knew I was going to get rid of both of these items...and I will miss them A LOT!!! not because I love to run on the treadmill AND I play around on the monkey bars and swing my heart out in this beautiful spring weather.I miss them because they provided a perfectly neat place to hang my laundry...sigh!!!
Good thing I still have this frame left from another swing that couldn't stand our beloved Texas sun :)
The reason why I kept this frame is because W is into gymnastics these days...BIG TIME!!! so he loves using it as his bars and frames for gymnastic practice,here...see for yourself! Straight from the rain forest,I present you...my monkey :D
...and when he is not hogging it...I use it for my laundry :) yayyyyy for going green,save electricity and keep things off landfill! pretty smart,eh.
Oh did I mention I had to hand wash alllllllll these and many more outfits! a total of 4saris and close to 10 outfits...just because they were too delicate for my washer's "hand wash" setting! talk about a VERY achy back and sore and ugly looking hands :( but hey,now everything in my closet is clean and ready for summer.bring it on party people!!!

Simple things.

haha! I saw W's reflection in the glass of french doors.I couldn't help but laugh out loud...Waaiz who was reading a book, looked up and wondered what made me laugh so loud :) then he saw his own reflection in the door and both of us were laughing hysterically.

oh how sometimes simple things entertain us in a way nothing else would :)

I got a running buddy ♥

oh how long I have waited for this time to come :)
I can run while this child rides his bike without me having to help him.Waaiz is getting a kick out of finishing up his chores,earning money saving it and then making a trip to two of his favorite places,Jamba Juice and Subway to get a bite to eat and enjoy a nice smoothie.
I am super proud of my little man.just look at him-such a big boy :)
yayyy! he got himself a veggie sandwich with his own money :)
and a nice smoothie :) he made some friends too.
then some days he will sit there and read his favorite story book, Mike and his Bike :)
PURE CUTENESS :)
he really loves that smoothie :)
time to ride the bike back home.
We always have time to stop and smell the flowers :)
oh how much I love the fact that he joins me in my runs and makes them even more fun!
