Workday/Workout Bars.Crunchy,Yummy and Healthy.

Since some of my health nut friends asked for this recipe...so here it is.
I LOVE LOVE these bars...so filling,so yummy and perfectly healthy! I must add these are a great Preworkout fuel source.Try them.Plus they make a perfect On the Go snack!
These are very forgiving bars. You can add any kinds of nuts and seeds you like, add wheat bran, dried apples anything healthy you want to add to your diet :) Make sure it is dried and is meant to be in a health bar.You can also adjust the quantities according to your likes.
First you need to gather these supplies and ingredients.
Non Stick cooking spray:

A nice rectangular baking dish.
Parchment paper cut to the size of the bottom of your baking dish.Spray some PAM in the dish and make sure to coat the sides of your pan with spray.Set the parchment paper nicely in the dish and spray some PAM on it as well.

About 1/4 cup or less Olive Oil
5 Tbsp of Flax meal...
This is the brand I used.
5 1/2 cups of Oats
1/4 cup of organic Honey/maple syrup (I used a little less...because I didn't want them to be too sweet) But the more honey you add,the stronger the "bars" will hold their shape.
2 cups of Textured Vegetable Protein(this will add a delicious crunch to your bars, plus everyone can use a little more protein in their diets.See the picture below, this is what TVP looks like, you can find it at Whole Foods.
1/4 cup of Sunflower seeds.
1/4 cup each of almonds,walnuts, raisins,dried cherries,dried cranberries,dried blueberries or even some some chocolate chips(I use 70% Coco bar.chopped)

Throw everything together in a big bowl and mix it really well.Dump this mish mash in your parchment ready baking dish...and flatten it with your palms. This is what it should be looking like by now.

Stick in a 200'F oven on the middle rack and bake for 20 minutes. It will smell delicious!!! Turn the oven off 20 minutes, and LEAVE THE TRAY ALONE!!! I know you will be tempted to take a bite and "try it out" ...come back in about 30 minutes when everything is nice and cool to touch, carefully take the tray out of the oven and cut the bars with a sharp serrated knife.
Store in an air tight container or a zip bag in the refrigerator the colder these bars get the crunchy they are :) EAT AWAY MY FRIENDS!!! don't forget a cup of green tea or a big mug if black coffee.

looks and sounds delish! I love making my own bars vs. the premade kind-that way I can control exactly what goes into them :)
I hope all is well with you and your family! Miss you much xox
